Laura Gibson

Laura Gibson headlined the show at The Echo on February 8, promoting her newest recording La Grande. In contrast to the energy and at-times extravagant stagecraft of opener Breathe Owl Breathe, Gibson captures the audience’s attention through the subtle landscapes her songs depict. Her styles range between delicate and fierce, with a genuine warmth and vulnerability to her stage presence. Throughout the night, Gibson and band members conveyed appreciation for the audience, while simultaneously, they seemed to be playing for the sheer enjoyment of performing together; they together wove an incredibly engaging and satisfying performance.

Lex Land – New Music

Lex Land just played a live set on KCRW this morning and we were blown away by her sound. She got her inital vocal training in Opera and has shifted over to rock/folk with a touch of pop. Her voice is beautiful. Breathy at times with a subtle vibrato, but a voice with control, power, and resonance.

Lex’s debut album, ‘Orange Days on Lemon Street’, in March of 2008. Orange Days held the #1 spot on the iTunes’ Singer-Songwriter chart for weeks following its release, and proceeded to earn “Best of 2008” honors from iTunes as well. Her new album ‘Were My Sweethart to Go….’ is out now.

Lex Land is performing tomorrow night in Los Angeles at The Echo.
