Fresh Electro Bootlegs from DJ Scott Thomas

As you may already know, we like to party here at the Noisetrain. In the spirit of the weekend, we wanna hook you guys up with a few banging electro tracks to help get the weekend started by one of our favorite DJ’s gone producer, Scott Thomas.

What may have started out as a hobby for making bedroom beats to spin at house parties has rapidly morphed into some serious electro house that’s sure to get everybody moving. Thomas’ bootlegs have no limits and range from artists such as Zedd to Knife Party to Coldplay, but still maintain the heart-pounding bass, elctro syths, and dirty Dutch tempos any party-goer looks for in a good time. Here are a few free downloads for you to grab, compliments of DJ Scott Thomas.

Happy Friday and get weird friends!

[Video] Feed Me Explains Teeth Stage Design & New Music

The team at MusicRadar recently sat down for an interview with Feed Me, also know as John Gooch when not behind the 18 foot grin, and he gave an in depth view of his Teeth Tour from conception to touring the world.  We were fortunate enough to catch Feed Me’s performance at the Music Box in Hollywood this year, and watching this interview gives a whole new meaning to the spellbinding performance.

Now looking towards the future, here’s a little something new Feed Me has forthcoming on Mau5trap. Annie Mac on BBC Radio1 debuted his latest track, Little Cat Steps, on August 17th, and this proves Feed Me is showing no signs of slowing down his production.

A little side note to the production of this new track, but Gooch not only produces the music behind the Feed Me persona, but he designed all of artwork for his album covers as well as the artwork for this track. He was working professionally as graphic designer before taking music originally as a dnb producer, Spor, and his latest electronic productions as Feed Me.

That said, we are absolutely pumped for his new music and we hope you dig it too!

Whomping Wednesdays: Church of Noise Music Video

Dim Mak Recrods just posted the music video for the Bloody Beetroots new single, ‘Church of Noise’ and I couldn’t be more ecstatic! Dennis Lyxzen (the former lead singer of The Refused and current lead singer of the International Noise Consipiracy) is one of my musical heroes and he’s also the featured vocalist on this track. I freaked out for about 7 of my 8 hours at work while looping this song in the background and raving behind my cubicle walls.  Amidst my silent rave, I took a brief moment contemplate if this is “The Shape of [EDM] to Come,” as more and more rock/electro collaborations pop up from producers like Skrillex and Modstep, and my conclusion is that I think we’re in for a big treat in 2012.

For many, Lyxzen’s raw vocals might temporarily overwhelm your senses if you’re expecting  just a peppy, melodic house beat. However, the blend of Bloody Beetroots progressive sound, heavily laden with fast-tempo punk rock fits perfectly with Lyxzen’s raw voice.

You can see where the inspirations for the video came from with its stripped down cinematography.  We’re used to seeing stationary producers and DJs spinning in front of massive festival crowds from atop LED towers. This video is definitely centered around all of these artists’ high-energy live performances and lets you know that Bloody Beetroots got back to their roots for this single. One can hope that, in the near future, they begin incorporating live instruments in their set. Watch the video and let us know what you think.

Whomping Wednesdays: Wolfgang Gartner Live @ the Music Box

The Noise Train ventured out to see Wolfgang Gartner on his Weekend in America Tour, and the Fonda Music Box couldn’t have been a better venue for his scintillating set-up. Insomniac events, who throw little shindigs like Electric Daisey Carnival and Nocturnal Wonderland every now and again, put on back-to-back Wolfgang Gartner shows and knew exactly what they were doing when they chose this venue.

We caught up with Wolfgang Gartner (Joey Youngman as he’s known offstage) while he was doing a last minute check up before his set. The producer/DJ said he was pretty excited to be playing in his hometown as he guzzled an energy drink and darted around the stage to check his equipment. Gartner’s skeletal-looking platform was situated in front of curtains made from small metallic-colored strips woven together, as well as a massive wall of LED lights, creating a dramatic backdrop. His equipment was flanked by two giant octopus-like creatures, which Gartner joked were used to ward off those who got too close. Overall, the stage from which Gartner was about to perform had a complex and layered design, building our anticipation for his performance all the more.

Gartner’s customized set-up wasn’t the only source of ambiance; the Music Box’s unique design and decor helped to set a somewhat sinister mood. For those of you who haven’t been to the Music Box, let me take a moment to describe the setting for Gartner’s show. The lavishly designed building has three distinct levels. The first is the main floor, where die-hard fans ebb and flow with the movement of the crowd and VIP guests look on from their table-serviced booths. The second level is situated outdoors. It provides concert goers with a break from chaos and some Los Angeles fresh air. The upper level is a bit more VIP, requiring a separate wristband upon entry. Here you can sit in plush, stadium-style seating on a balcony that overlooks the crowd and stage. Each of the three floors provides guests with a completely different experience, however, one aspect of the decor remains the same. The walls of the Music Box are covered in the dark (and somewhat horrifying) scenes from 15th century artist, Hieronymus Bosch’s painting titled The Garden of Earthly Delights. Made up of three, related but distinct, panels, Bosch’s work of art displays scenes from the creation and from hell. The particular images currently under discussion come from the furthest right panel of Bosch’s triptych and depict the torments of damnation faced by those who succumbed to earthly delights. So next time you’re at the Music Box, keep an eye out for impaled corpses, bird-headed monsters feeding on humans, and people being subjected to punishments as a result of engaging in the 7 Deadly Sins.

When the curtain finally drew back at around 12:30 AM, the man of the hour was poised atop his LED tower. To the excitement of his fans, and in true Insomniac fashion, Wolgang Garnter went in hard and the energy didn’t cease until the lights came on! The set was an all-encompassing display of  Garnter’s masterful production of tracks from his new album, Weekend in America, as well as his biggest hits, including Illmerica, Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony, and Animal Rights. Amidst the light show, scantily clad dancers performed in enclaves above the crowd. Amazed by the visually stimulating setting and Gartner’s complex electronic production, the Noise Train staff boogied the night away and documented it all for your viewing pleasure. One thing is for certain, after this performance, we Los Angelenos are eagerly awaiting a follow-up show in the near future.

Check out our exclusive photos of  Wolfgang Gartner live at the Music Box and you can see how ridiculous the party was for yourself.

The Fonda Music Box is easily one of our favorite clubs in Los Angeles and we want to give a special thanks to the good people at the Mitch Schneider Organization for helping us see a side of the venue that we haven’t had the privilege of experiencing before.

Whomping Wednesdays: Escape From Wonderland

If you don’t have any plans for Halloween weekend yet, you’re late for a very important date fellow party people. Insomniac Events is putting on their first ever “Escape from Wonderland” festival on October 29th and this will most likely be their most visually stimulating production to date. Don’t be fooled into thinking this will be your run-of -the-mill rave with a few die-hards dressed to impress. Expect concert goers to be dressed to the nines, but we think that will just be the tip of this visual iceberg.

Insomniac is pulling out all the stops to have insane performance artists, wildly costumed dancers, and a decor that is sure to make you feel like you’ve just bought a ticket to fall down the rabbit hole. Check out their trailer below and just marvel at the attention to detail in the cinematography. This should tip you off that no expense will be spared in stage design and artist appearances.

But let’s not forget how RIDICULOUSLY HUGE this line up is. I’m not going to deny that I’m most excited to see some drum & bass’ freshest producers such as the Brookes Brothers, Pendulum, Wilkinson, and Subfocus, but that doesn’t downplay some of the other names on the bill such as Steve Angello, Afrojack, ATB, and Benni Benassi.

I know I said that you’re late when I started this post… but an enjoyable Halloween is not out of your grasp. Grab your tickets from one of the Insomniac approved providers and hopefully you’ll catch us at the show so you can grab one of the Noise Train’s body stamps!

Whomping Wednesdays: Wolfgang Gartner + Will.i.am

I am a huge Wolfgang Gartner fan and he’s teamed up with will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas to put out a new single. I’m sure all you bass heads and EDM fans know who Wolfgang Gartner is and are thoroughly enjoying his Weekend in America LP that just dropped on Ultra Records a couple of weeks ago,  but do some of you not know who will.i.am is? We’ll he’s one of the artists behind mega hits such as “Let’s get Retarded” and “Don’t Funk with my Heart.” I’ll give you a minute to pause and reflect on those songs…. That said, I must say that I was extremely hesitant to see a progressive house producer teaming up with such a big pop star but this track, “Forever,” turned out to be a banger in its own right if I do say so myself.

But that’s not what where here to tell you about… well, not entirely. We like to look at the visual side of music here at the Noise Train and this is one of this track has one of the weirdest music videos I have ever seen. Try and watch the Black Eyed Peas’ past performances and music videos after seeing this and then you will be forever haunted with will.i.am’s face looking like baby-making ingredients…. Just watch the video. You’ll get it (and if you do,  share your reactions).

Last but not least, I just got the down low that Gartner himself was the first featured artist on MTV’s Clubland.  MTV now dedicates an entire hour to EDM at 3 am. Woot (read with with heavy sarcasm)! I haven’t made up my mind if this program means the end is neigh or if EDM is really getting as big as we hope but I’m sure there will be posts to follow up on this program if they keep getting producers and DJ’s like Gartner to entertain my ADD and insomina at 3 am.

Don’t forget to catch Gatner on his North American Tour this fall.

Steve Aoki & Afrojack at Identity Fest

So all of us at the Noise Train are still talking about the amazing  experience we had during Identity Festival at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in Chula Vista, CA and we decided to do one more post that features two more of our favorite performances. We figure that the best way to share our day with you is through this incredible montage of exclusive pics that one of the Noise Train’s contributing photographers, The Bullitt a.k.a. Patrick Flynn, took from around the festival and from the stage.

First up are the shots from Aoki’s main set he did later in the evening. His light up name was completely spell binding and his scaffolding definitely got the crowd’s attention.  The other shots of Aoki are from the earlier in the day, as we mentioned in one of our previous posts, because he filled in for Afrojack until he arrived at the venue. Afrojack finally arrived and with their powers combined they absolutely killed it. Check out these shots and let us know what you think! Happy Friday party people.
