Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, aka 23-year old Maine-bred, Brooklyn-based Aly Spaltro, is releasing her debut album, Ripely Pine, next month on Ba Da Bing. Following up “Rooftop,” one of Ripely Pine’s more accessible songs, we present the fierce and fiery style which truly sets Miss Lady Lamb apart with “Bird Balloons.” Lady Lamb‘s unhinged performance style – intense guitar strumming, spitting out lyrics, melodies following a strange internal logic- come to the fore here; she careens from hums to screams within seconds, but always under artistic -control. Ripely Pine captures the wondrous magic of Lady Lamb the Beekeeper‘s live shows, while keeping her songs’ stark rawness. No song shows this better than “Bird Balloons,” premiered via Consequence of Sound this morning. Take a listen below and experience Lady Lamb at her best and boldest.
One of the best new albums of the year: Bat For Lashes – The Haunted Man. Beautifully sung and emotionally raw. A mush have album.
Bat for Lashes first captured hearts way back in 2006 with a set of distinctively haunting and darkly phantasmagorical songs ripe with magic realism. Natasha Khan as a unique song writing talent and one who is paving her own way. Bat for Lashes returns with her long awaited third album The Haunted Man via Parlophone.
The Local Natives long awaited and anticipated second full lenth album is due out in early January. They’ve announced tour dates which you can see HERE and put their new song ‘breakers’ up online to stream. Soooo good and crazy excited to hear the rest of the album.
Andy Burrows Announces release of new album Company, 10/23. You can download the title track, Company below. It’s beautiful, melodic and if it says anything about the upcoming release, the album will be great.
A supremely talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Andy Burrows first came to attention with Razorlight, joining as drummer in 2004 and going on to co-write some of that band’s biggest hits, including the #1 single, America. Leaving Razorlight in 2009, Burrows joined We Are Scientists as a part-time member, before releasing the album Sun Comes Up Again, under the moniker I Am Arrows, in 2010.
Since then, Burrows has done a project with Editors frontman Tom Smith as Smith & Burrows and then went on to become a full time member of We Are Scientists. For Burrows, he claims Company marks the first time he’s had to confidence to make a record “exactly how I felt musically and lyrically”. You’ll have to take a listen and see for yourself!

Full length album coming soon on XL Recordings. You can get the song ‘Default‘ by Atoms for Peace!
Strong elements from Thom York’s The Eraser – electronic, and melodic. Worth a listen and here’s the video for the song.
It was 85 and gorgeous out, as fans streamed into The Greek to listen to Sharron Van Etton & Andrew Bird. Shows at The Greek are more of an experience than just going to a concert and with these two bands together, it was going to be a good night.
As Sharron Van Etten started to play, I had to take pause. I’m instantly taken back by the music the is floating in the air over everyone at the Greek. Sharron has something about her music that makes you completely forget about what you just came from or even where you are at in that moment. It’s then I realized I was in for a treat than I expected. It was a summer night in LA, and as the sun was setting, I got to listen to Sharron Van Etten fill the sky with her soft spoken folk sounds and reflect on my day and life. It was beautiful!
To catch her next show, Sharron Van Etten will be touring with Tennis. Check her tour schedule HERE:
