Whomping Wednesdays: Wolfgang Gartner + Will.i.am
I am a huge Wolfgang Gartner fan and he’s teamed up with will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas to put out a new single. I’m sure all you bass heads and EDM fans know who Wolfgang Gartner is and are thoroughly enjoying his Weekend in America LP that just dropped on Ultra Records a couple of weeks ago, but do some of you not know who will.i.am is? We’ll he’s one of the artists behind mega hits such as “Let’s get Retarded” and “Don’t Funk with my Heart.” I’ll give you a minute to pause and reflect on those songs…. That said, I must say that I was extremely hesitant to see a progressive house producer teaming up with such a big pop star but this track, “Forever,” turned out to be a banger in its own right if I do say so myself.
But that’s not what where here to tell you about… well, not entirely. We like to look at the visual side of music here at the Noise Train and this is one of this track has one of the weirdest music videos I have ever seen. Try and watch the Black Eyed Peas’ past performances and music videos after seeing this and then you will be forever haunted with will.i.am’s face looking like baby-making ingredients…. Just watch the video. You’ll get it (and if you do, share your reactions).
Last but not least, I just got the down low that Gartner himself was the first featured artist on MTV’s Clubland. MTV now dedicates an entire hour to EDM at 3 am. Woot (read with with heavy sarcasm)! I haven’t made up my mind if this program means the end is neigh or if EDM is really getting as big as we hope but I’m sure there will be posts to follow up on this program if they keep getting producers and DJ’s like Gartner to entertain my ADD and insomina at 3 am.
Don’t forget to catch Gatner on his North American Tour this fall.
