Whomping Wednesdays: SuperHeavy

Now, I know what some of you might be thinking. What in the world of drum & bass beats and dubstep drops will the NoiseTrain be delivering to you this fine Wednesday? Well, rather than give you the electric…. this week we’re all about the eclectic. Fret not! We’ll be serving up some serious doses of monstrous tunes all in due time. Until then, here’s a little something on the horizon worthy of a Whomping Wednesday shout out.

Some of the biggest names in music have joined forces to form a super group of nearly unmatched proportions. The appropriately titled SuperHeavy is a diverse crew representing many musical genres, including rock (Mick Jagger), new wave (Dave Stewart), reggae (Damian Jr. Gong Marley), soul (Joss Stone), and bollywood (A.R. Rahman). With their powers combined, SuperHeavy created an album with a sound that can strike a chord with music lovers of almost any genre. Can you even imagine how much of a hodge podge the crowd will be at this show?

So for those of you still clinging to these last days of summer, we recommend putting the song “Miracle Worker” on during your Labor Day BBQ. SuperHeavy is sure to knock the socks off all of your friends and keep you in the summer spirit for the rest of the year. And if for some reason this song doesn’t keep you and your friends grooving away, then at least it will serve as an excellent conversation starter!

Alright, alright, so this post isn’t exactly electronic per say, but all of these genres helped lay the foundation for electronic music. There’s dub reggae for the dubstep fans, soul for the deep house lovers, new wave for the new disco dancers, and bhangra for the desi-beat lifestyles. Watch this video and afterwards, look yourself in the mirror and try to say there wasn’t a bit in there that got you moving. C’mon! Don’t lie to yourself… You were dancing. Until next time.

And the new video for Miracle Worker:
